Jennifer Shackleton is the Standards and Assessment Advisor at WorldSkills International. From 1973 to 1999 Jennifer grew from a teacher to the Principal and Chief Executive of a large college in the UK. Simultaneously, she took on national roles, including serving as a Commissioner for the National Commission on Education (1991-1993); a Member of the UK Government’s New Deal (Welfare to Work) Task Force (1997-99); and a Member of the ESRC’s Steering Group for the National Teaching and Learning Research Programme (1998-2003). From the year 2000 her national roles continued, and in 2012 she became WorldSkills International’s (WSI’s) Standards and Assessment Advisor. As such she has created customized global occupational standards and reformed its assessment methodology and delivery. She has supported the growth of newer Members of WSI. In this outward-facing role, Jennifer maintains strong relations with other international organizations, including actively fostering the relationship between WSI and OECD PISA-VET for their reciprocal benefit.
