Ja Seng Ra is a gender specialist, providing technical support for the Myanmar peace processes and the gender rights program's capacity development activities in Myanmar. Seng has over four years of experience lecturing at a Baptist mission school, organizing community-based social and economic initiatives during the critical turning point of Myanmar's democratic transition. She has devoted significant energy to improving gender and social inclusion components in Myanmar peace processes. Her professional and research interests include power relations in gender and peacebuilding, security, masculinities, and militarization. Seng was a lead researcher at Humanity Institute from 2018 to 2019 and an Asian Peacebuilders Scholar, a shared initiative of The Nippon Foundation, the University for Peace, and Ateneo de Manila University, from 2016 to 2017. She holds a master's degree in gender and peacebuilding from the United Nations- mandated University for Peace, Costa Rica, and a master's degree in global politics from Ateneo de Manila University, Philippines.
