Helena Boateng is a human social and political sciences student at the University of Cambridge, Cambridge, UK, specializing in politics and sociology. At university, she has served as co-access officer of the African and Caribbean Society, was a leader for student action in female education and was a student researcher for the Black Student Advisory Hub. She is a 2024 Artivism and Amplifiers Fellow at the Human Impacts Institute, tackling issues of intersectional climate justice using art and culture. Helena is interested in creating inclusive democracies and international systems of governance particularly through dismantling race and gender inequalities within education. She has extensive experience in researching the creation of suspect citizens through policing and anti-immigration policies within the UK. Furthermore, she has researched systems of structural violence within liberal international organizations.
