Harun Abubakar is a master's student pursuing a degree in international development studies with a specialization in sustainable trade and finance, at the Graduate Institute, Geneva, Switzerland. He serves as an Applied Research Project (ARP) researcher with the International Trade Center (ITC) in Switzerland, contributing to the toolkit by ITC for negotiations of the Digital Trade Protocol for the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). His research focuses on maximizing youth inclusion in the digital sector under the AfCFTA, addressing issues such as the digital divide and obstacles faced by young individuals. Harun previously worked as a research assistant & Fellow at Africa Vakfi, Turkey, actively contributing to research projects and policy recommendations aimed at influencing the redevelopment of Turkey migration policy and Africa-Turkey relations. Additionally, he served as a global youth statement policy researcher for the Conference of Youth (COY18), United Arab Emirates, collecting and analyzing data on climate change and environmental issues for policy briefs presented at COP28 in Dubai.
