Göran Malmqvist is a linguist, literary historian, sinologist and translator, and a member of the Swedish Academy. His long academic career include positions held at the University of London, Australian Natinoal University and Stockholm University, where he has been professor of Sinology since 1965. He has translated 42 volumes of Chinese literature from different epochs, his research focus lies on classical Chinese philology, syntax and semantics. Mr. Malmqvist is accompanied by his wife, Chen Wenfen.
