Glynis Schreuder

Acting Director for Curriculum FET, Western Cape Education Department, South Africa

Glynis Schreuder is currently the Acting Director in the Directorate Curriculum FET in the Western Cape Education Department. She is permanently employed as the Chief Education Specialist (CES) in this directorate. She joined the organization as an Accounting teacher in 1987. Teacher Professional Development and Curriculum Design is her passion. Her current position has afforded her the opportunity of engaging with education policies and designing policies by being involved in the writing of the curriculum. She currently serves as an interface between the provincial and the national departments by ensuring that relevant policies are mediated with curriculum officials and teachers. Glynis was involved in writing of the curriculum frameworks for Accounting for the National Curriculum Statement (NCS) and the CAPS curricula and has rendered input into the Assessment and Moderation policy frameworks on both provincial and national levels. Her master's degree was about the role EMS plays in preparing learners for Accounting in Grade 10. Such training included curriculum and assessment matters. Her Doctoral study investigated how professional development of teachers can improve the quality of teaching and learning.
