Gillian McFarland

Gillian McFarland is a senior civil servant at the Department for Education in the UK Civil Service. She currently leads the department's strategy to help children and young people to recover from the impact of the pandemic. In previous roles she has focused on education, children's services, governance and international development in the Department for Education, Cabinet Office and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). She holds degrees from the Universities of Cambridge, Oxford and Maastricht, including a PhD in education policy delivery.
