George Mpanga

George Mpanga (George the Poet) is a London-born spoken word artist of Ugandan heritage, known for his critically-acclaimed poetry and social commentary. Since 2018, George has hosted and co-produced the award-winning series 'Have You Heard George's Podcast?' with his main collaborator, Benbrick. The series looks at the role of music in the education, representation and transformation of Black life. This has led George to embark on a PhD with UCL's Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose under the supervision of its founder, Mariana Mazzucato, and Reader in Educational Leadership at UCL's Institute of Education, Dr. Karen Edge. George's research focuses on game-changing social and economic relations modelled in Black music.
