Garie Briones is a national program officer (Terrorism Prevention) at UNODC based in the Philippines. Before this assignment, he was a project manager of conciliation resources for its peacebuilding program in the Bangsamoro in the southern part of the Philippines. He had a brief stint as a project associate for the Democracy and Governance Unit of UNDP Philippines. In addition, Garie managed a community policing project for the British Council and an elections and governance project for the International Foundation for Electoral Systems. He holds a dual master's degree in Political Science from the Ateneo de Manila University and International Peace Studies from the UN-mandated University for Peace in Costa Rica.
