Gabriel Jr Billones is the founder and president of Break the Fake Movement, in Manila, and he leads a coalition of over 500 young professionals combating disinformation and promoting responsible digital citizenship. His initiatives include the Break the Fake Hackathon, Media Civics Lab, and the Philippine implementation of the ASEAN Digital Literacy Program, reaching hundreds of thousands of educators and citizens. Gabriel is a digital media entrepreneur and social impact leader advancing media literacy and digital inclusion across Southeast Asia. A founding member of the Digital Rights Coalition Philippines and Digital Makers Asia-Pacific, Gabriel continues to shape digital policy and inclusion across the region through training, strategic partnerships, and grassroots mobilization. In 2023, he became the first Filipino Obama Scholar at Columbia University, US. He holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology, in Iligan City, Philippines, with additional certifications in media and journalism from Ball State University, US, and media and development from DW Akademie, Germany.
