Frances Pappas

Founder and Artistic Director, Bridging Arts, Austria

Frances Pappas is the founder and artistic director of Bridging Arts, where she develops participatory and interdisciplinary projects that bring together artists, students, and communities. She is a Greek-Canadian opera singer, educator, and cultural practitioner based in Austria, working at the intersection of performance, pedagogy, and social practice. Her work creates shared spaces for artistic exchange and explores how creative practice can engage with social and cultural questions. Frances also teaches at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw), where she works with students on integrating singing into embodied and collaborative performance. Her teaching considers how principles such as equity, safety, and anti-discrimination can be translated into practical rehearsal methods, and how values like respect and care can be applied in everyday artistic work. Working across Europe and Canada, she facilitates workshops and projects in both educational and professional artistic contexts.
