Firas Abd-Alhadi is a communication specialist based in Jordan with almost 30 years of experience in designing and implementing communication and promotion strategies/plans. Currently, he is a senior media officer at the Ministry of Industry & Trade. He is also a communication consultant for several regional organizations in the fields of development and environment. Firas' professional involvement in environmental issues started in 2004 when he worked as the regional communication and documentation specialist in EMPOWERS (Euro-Med Participatory Water Resources Scenarios), an EU-funded regional partnership. This project introduced Firas to the practice of building knowledge communities based on multi-level stakeholder platforms as a means to build individual and institutional capacities for better management and conservation of natural resources. Firas has been associated with the IUCN since 2009 as a communication consultant and environmental writer and a member in the IUCN CEC. He is also a board member and communication coordinator of the Arab World Association of Young Scientists (ArabWAYS). He has co-authored, edited and translated several publications on water, environment, climate change and development. Firas holds a master of arts in english literature and a double major bachelor of arts in Arabic and English, both from the University of Jordan in Amman, Jordan.
