Erika Arteaga-Cruz is an Ecuadorean feminist physician, and a right to health activist. A mother of two, professor at the San Francisco de Quito University and a PhD (c) in Collective Health, Environment and Society at the Simón Bolívar Andean University. She was a Technical Advisor in Health for the Confederation of Peasants, Indigenous and Afroecuadorean organizations in Ecuador (FENOCIN) and is part of the Advisory Council of the Traditional Birth Attendants School at the Union of Peasant and Indigenous Organizations of Cotacachi (UNORCAC). Her research focuses on the resistance to the Industrial medical complex by indigenous kichwa organizations. Together with UNORCAC Health she co-created the Ancestral Health Indigenous Council Ethics Committee for External Researchers. Erika is also a close ally of Sandi Yura Health Promoters organization in the Northern Amazon of Ecuador and part of the editorial board at Ñawpa Intercultural magazine , learning with potent indigenous intellectuals and leaders.
