Enrico Giovannini

Full Professor of Economic Statistics and Sustainable Development, University of Rome Tor Vergata, Italy

Enrico is an Italian economist and statistician, and a full professor of economic statistics at the University of Rome "Tor Vergata." He has held numerous high-level positions, including Minister of Infrastructure and Sustainable Mobility (2021-2022) and Minister of Labour and Social Policies (2013-2014). He previously served as President of the Italian Statistical Institute (ISTAT) and as Director of Statistics and Chief Statistician at the OECD. Enrico is the founder and Director of the Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development, promoting the UN 2030 Agenda nationally. A Senior Fellow at the LUISS School of European Political Economy and Visiting Fellow at the European Political Strategy Centre, he also serves as President of the European Statistical Governance Advisory Board and sits on numerous international boards and commissions, including the UN's Independent Experts Advisory Board on the Data Revolution. In 2014, he was awarded the "Cavaliere di Gran Croce al Merito della Repubblica," Italy's highest civilian honor. A long-time advocate of the "Beyond GDP" movement, he has authored over 100 articles and five books, and is a Fellow of Salzburg Global and a member of the Club of Rome.
