Eduardo is the Claire Tow Associate Professor of Political Science at Barnard College of Columbia University. His research agenda focuses on the political economy of crime and violence as well as comparative urban politics in Latin America. He is the author of Cities, Business and the Politics of Urban Violence in Latin America (Stanford University Press, 2016) and co-editor of Inside Countries: Subnational Research in Comparative Politics (Cambridge University Press, 2019). His most recent book, Resisting Extortion: Victims, Criminals, and States in Latin America (Cambridge University Press, 2022), analyzes when and how communities of victims mobilize to resist victimization at the hands of organized crime. He has received support for his research from the National Science Foundation, the Social Science Research Council, the Ford Foundation, and the Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation, among others. Eduardo is a Salzburg Global Fellow.
