Eddie Hartwig is a founding partner at Service Design Collective. He is a public and private sector executive with more than 20 years of expertise in policy development and implementation. Before founding SDC, he led the United States Digital Service (USDS), a technology startup inside the White House. At USDS, Eddie played a leading role in the development of more than 100 products and services, including IRS DirectFile, the White House's COVID pandemic response, and the American Rescue Plan implementation. Before USDS, Eddie was the speechwriter and senior advisor to the U.S. Ambassador to Austria. He led an early-stage public health startup and founded a successful European economic development movement. Eddie served as a U.S. diplomat from 2006-2015 and started his professional career as a public defender in Massachusetts. He is a Fellow of Salzburg Global.
