Dominik Balthasar is the Director of Development Management and an Associate Professor at the Asian Institute of Management in Manila, Philippines. With eighteen years of experience in research, policy, and practice, his work focuses on international development, particularly in peacebuilding and fragility. Dominik has supported KfW Development Bank in shaping its engagement in conflict-affected countries and worked with prominent think and do tanks such as Chatham House, the United States Institute of Peace (USIP), and swisspeace. He has also collaborated with aid organizations, contributing to development efforts in the DR Congo (UNDP), Timor-Leste (World Bank), and Nepal (formerly DfID). Trained in evidence-based approaches to development policy and programming, Dominik has expanded his expertise to the field of innovation, integrating strategic foresight into peacebuilding. He holds an MSc and PhD in International Development from the London School of Economics (LSE) and has undergone industry training in design thinking (IDEO-U) and scenario planning (Oxford). Currently, Dominik is a research associate with swisspeace and ODI Global, and a full member of the Association of Professional Futurists. His work bridges academic rigor and practical innovation to address complex development challenges.
