Deepali Fernandes is a trade, finance and labour migration expert, with work experience in both the private and public sector (United Nations). She is currently senior consultant to the Africa Free Trade Agreement Secretariat on financial and construction and engineering services and works with the UN Capital Development Fund on labour migration and remittances. She was senior economic development specialist with the International Organization for Migration from 2018-2022, economics affairs officer with UNCTAD for 9 years and in private practice in India and the UK. She has consulted for the WTO, UNEP, UNDP and the UN Think-Tank for Landlocked Developing Countries. Deepali was a visiting fellow at the University of Cambridge and the Beijing University of International Business and Economics, and guest lecturer at IMD Business School, Lausanne, University of Pennsylvania and the Government Law College, Mumbai. Deepali completed her BA (Economics) and LLB in India, her LLM in London (SOAS) and her PhD (Finance and Trade) at the University of Zurich. She is admitted to the Law Society of England and Wales and as an Advocate, Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa.
