Dawn Carey

Director, Global Health and Development, Dartmouth College, USA
Dawn Carey brings a deep background in global and public health, focused on alleviating health disparity at the population level. Her role at Dartmouth serves to educate, convene, and empower students, faculty, and community to move the needle on health equity worldwide. At the Global Health Council, she stewarded the Bill and Melinda Gates Award for Global Health, working with leading institutions dedicated to improving the health of the two billion poorest people around the globe. She then joined the newly-formed Dartmouth Center for Health Care Delivery Science under President Jim Kim, later merged with The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice. There she directed the TDI Learning Lab, created to transform curriculum for better learning and engagement. She co-teaches Global Health and Society, an undergraduate introduction to the broad effects of infectious disease across the globe. Every other year, she co-teaches Biology 70: Biologic Lessons of the Eye, culminating in a field visit to the Aravind Eye Care System in Chennai, India. She also co-teaches the Cultural Awareness orientation session for third year med students going into their internal medicine rotation. Dawn received both her BA in Anthropology and her MPH at Dartmouth College.
