David Steel

David Steel is an international business and nonprofit leader with experience spanning technology, public affairs, standards development, and social impact. David spent more than two decades at Samsung Electronics in senior leadership roles across corporate affairs, strategy, marketing, and communications. He served as EVP and Head of Global Communications, leading the company’s engagement with media and stakeholders across more than 100 countries, and later as head of corporate affairs for North America. He was the company’s first non-Korean corporate officer. He most recently served as executive director of UL Standards & Engagement, where he led the nonprofit organization’s development of standards and public engagement initiatives focused on advancing human health and safety. David currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Agitos Foundation and on the Board of Directors of Classroom Champions. Earlier in his career, David worked at McKinsey & Company and as a resear.cher at Argonne National Laboratory. He holds a B.A. in physics from the University of Oxford, an MBA with honors from the University of Chicago, and a Ph.D. in physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was an Advanced Leadership Fellow at Harvard University.
