Dave Chesterton JP Dave was appointed a Magistrate in 1994 and is a Presiding Justice in both the Youth and Family Courts. He is Lead Family Magistrate for East London and a member of the Greater London Family Panel Executive. He has been a Board member of the Tower Hamlets and City of London Youth Justice Service since 2017 and its Independent Chair for several years. He is currently a member of a Children in Custody working group run by the London Directors of Children's Services. Formerly, Managing Director of the UK's largest Foyer provider, accommodating 600 homeless and vulnerable young people in the East End of London. A former Chair of the UK Foyer Federation and until recently a member of the Board of the Australian Foyer Foundation. Since 2007 he has campaigned for alternatives to youth custody and has played an influential role in shaping the Government's plans for Secure Schools.
