Daniel Murphy is an Risk & Resilience Specialist at the World Economic Forum. He leads the Forum’s Insurance Strategies for Extreme Heat Resilience initiative, which advances innovative products and partnerships to address the growing risks of extreme heat and related climate perils. This work culminated in the release of the white paper Insuring Against Extreme Heat: Navigating Risks in a Warming World at the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting in Davos 2025. Daniel also supports the Forum’s Insurance Industry Community, helping to drive research and impact-focused initiatives on key topics shaping the sector, including the adoption of artificial intelligence, the longevity economy, and climate adaptation and resilience. Prior to joining the Forum, Daniel was a Fulbright Research Fellow in Cali, Colombia, and worked with the Rockefeller Foundation’s 100 Resilient Cities program, where he focused on accelerating funding for sustainable infrastructure and strengthening urban climate resilience. He holds a Master’s degree in International Economic Policy from Columbia University in the City of New York. Daniel is originally from Boston and currently resides in Brooklyn, New York.
