Cimenna holds a doctorate in educational and developmental psychology from the National Autonomous University in Mexico (UNAM), and a MA in Psychology from New York University (NYU). She is currently General Director of Strategic Planning and Innovation at Universidad Iberoamericana Ciudad de México and is a full-time professor in the Department of Education at the same university, where she conducts research in social and emotional learning, educational interactions and emotional wellbeing in educational settings, as well as about educational innovation and the use of digital technologies and AI. She has published academic work related to social and emotional processes in the educational context, emotional wellbeing in educational actors during the COVID-19 pandemic, and about the role of technology in learning and related cognitive processes. She is currently exploring the role of generative artificial intelligence tools in teaching and learning, and its impact on educational interactions. She is the Academic Director of the International Journal of Emotional Education and Wellbeing, member of the Executive Council and Representative for North America of the International Society for Emotional Intelligence (ISEI), and National Delegate of the International Network of Emotional Education and Wellbeing (RIEEB).
