Christabel K. Cheung, PhD, MSW is an Associate Professor with tenure at the University of Maryland School of Social Work and a Member of the University of Maryland Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center. An internationally engaged social and behavioral scientist, she advances health equity in cancer care, focusing on adolescents and young adults (AYA) diagnosed with early-onset cancer. Dr. Cheung leads community-based, mixed-methods research and pioneered Embodied Research Methods, a qualitative approach integrating lived experiences into the behavioral sciences and medicine. She holds leadership roles in NIH-funded studies and research training programs across the U.S. and Europe. Her work has earned numerous honors, including the Camara Jones Faculty Award for advancing social justice at the University of Maryland and the GRASP Advocate Choice Award at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).
