Chris Cardona

Chris Cardona is Managing Director at the MacArthur Foundation, where he leads a team driving the identification and development of new areas and modes of grantmaking. Prior to joining MacArthur, he was a Senior Program Officer at the Ford Foundation, where he managed the Philanthropy portfolio and served on the BUILD team. Previously, he led the Philanthropy practice at the consulting firm TCC Group and was a programme director at Hispanics in Philanthropy. He chairs the board of Nonprofit Quarterly, previously chaired the boards of Red Hook Initiative and the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation, and serves on the advisory board of Capitalize Good. He is a co-editor of the research collection Participatory Grantmaking in Philanthropy (Georgetown University Press, 2024) and has taught in Columbia University's Nonprofit Management programme. He holds a PhD and master's in political science from UC Berkeley and a bachelor's in political science from Williams College.
