Chitra Rawat currently leads the research and design vertical at Indus Action, in New Delhi, consulting with labor departments of different states in India, and aiming to reduce administrative burden on citizens while accessing welfare entitlements. She is a researcher specializing in labor and service delivery design. Chitra’s design practice is informed by human centered design and systems thinking approach, encompassing a multistakeholder analysis. She thrives at the confluence of tech, policy, governance, and practice, and believes in the transformative power of responsible tech and inclusive design for public good. Her journey with technology and design began at Chalo Network, where she worked on end-to-end service design and operations, advancing financial inclusion of migrant households across rural and urban geographies within five states in India, serving over 50,000 migrant households. Having led grassroots and impact-at-scale interventions, she pivoted her practice to improve citizen-state interactions in public service delivery.
