Chip Cunliffe is a Senior Director, Innovation & Pipeline Development at the Ocean Risk and Resilience Action Alliance (ORRAA). He spent 10 years working in the insurance industry, identifying ways in which risk transfer mechanisms can be best used to build resilience to ocean related risks. In 2019 he co-founded ORRAA with Karen Sack, to pioneer finance and insurance products that incentivise investment into the ocean and coastal nature-based solutions. Chip leads ORRAA’s Innovation and Product Pipeline which has supported 50 projects in 30 countries through grants totalling over USD$20m. This has supported building the resilience of over 340,000 climate vulnerable coastal people and leveraged over USD$65m of additional investment.
