Celina Stewart

CEO, League of Women Voters of the United States, United States of America

Celina Stewart is a visionary voting-rights leader and CEO of the League of Women Voters of the United States, steering one of America’s most enduring civic institutions through a crucial era for democracy. A lawyer, strategist, and changemaker, she champions equity, modernization, and nonviolent civic action nationwide, and her leadership has already set national precedents in voter protection litigation and in defending elections from disinformation. Elevated from Chief Counsel to League CEO just months before the 2024 election, Stewart guided the organization through one of the most consequential cycles in modern history. She unveiled a bold new vision for the League’s future at its 2024 National Convention, launching “Unite & Rise 8.5,” an ambitious initiative to mobilize 8.5 million voters for democracy. Stewart has previously worked as Counsel for Minority Leader Stacey Abrams in the state legislature in Georgia. She is a proud alumna of Spelman College and Western Michigan Law School and continues to inspire a new generation of democracy defenders.
