Carolina Althaller

Carolina Althaller is a Brazilian political strategist and Executive Director of Instituto Update, where she works at the intersection of democracy, gender, and political innovation in Latin America. Her work focuses on expanding women’s political power, understanding how gender shapes political attitudes and democratic participation, and developing new narratives and strategies to strengthen democratic societies. Over the past decade, Carolina has worked with political leaders, civil society organizations, researchers, and movements across Latin America, connecting research, narrative change, leadership development, and political action. She has led initiatives exploring women’s relationship with democracy, polarization, public security, and political representation. Her work is guided by a central question: how can democracies better reflect women’s everyday experiences, aspirations, and political power?
