Carole Martin is currently a doctoral candidate in American Literary History at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) in Munich, Germany, where she is a member of the Graduate School Language & Literature, Class of Literature. Through the lens of Vietnamese American literary productions, her project examines refugees' entangled im/mobilities and liminal subjectivities while questioning the material conditions and political contexts of displacement. She recently submitted the manuscript and will defend her dissertation this November. During her time at LMU, she taught courses on Asian American literature, Afrofuturism, and mobility studies and co-organized international conferences on flowers, academia and activism, and Transpacific connections. Previously, she received her B.A. and M.A. in English and Anthropology from the University of Basel, Switzerland, and studied abroad for two semesters at the University of Vienna, Austria. Her main research interests are in the interdisciplinary fields of critical refugee studies, transnational migration, and postcolonial theory.
