Carla Yumatle is the 2025 R.F. Kennedy Visiting Professor and the 2024 Fortabat Visiting Scholar at the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies at Harvard University. She has taught at Harvard and Brown Universities and Universidad Torcuato Di Tella (Argentina).Her writing focuses on liberalism, pluralism and human rights. She is currently working on a book project on the crisis of democracy and on two articles, one on the democratic ideal under the first transitional government in Argentina and the other on the changes in the use and understanding of human rights in some countries in Latin America. She previously co-edited El mundo visto desde América Latina and La sociedad civil en América Latina: transformaciones y rupturas recientes. She earned her PhD in Political Science from University of California, Berkeley, an MA in Political Theory from London School of Economics, and conducted her postdoctoral research at Brown University in the Political Theory Project.
