Cansu Çamlibel is a journalist based in Istanbul, Turkey. She currently writes a column for independent online news network T24. She was the founding Editor-in-Chief of independent online newspaper Duvar English and managed the outlet until she left in October 2021. During that time, she also wrote a column on diplomacy and Turkish politics in the sister publication Gazete Duvar in Turkish. Prior to this role, she was the Washington Correspondent for the daily Hurriyet of Turkey for two years. She resigned due to political pressure and self-censorship inside the newsroom in February 2019 and returned to Turkey. She was awarded the 'Nieman Journalism Fellowship' at Harvard University for the 2015-2016 period. She holds a Master of Arts degree in International Journalism from Cardiff University in the UK. She is a board member of the Istanbul based independent think-tank EDAM. She is a member of the national committee of the International Press Institute (IPI) - Vienna based media freedom and independent journalism advocacy network - and hosts a monthly podcast titled "Freedom Dialogues" as part of her activism work for IPI. She was recently given the leadership role to create a "think hub" at the Bosphorus which would merge young and seasoned talents under a creative and socially responsible collective. Cansu is a Fellow of Salzburg Global Seminar.
