Brian Nelson is professor of French studies at Monash University, Melbourne, and president of the Australian Association for Literary Translation. In addition to being an practicing translator he has been active in promoting translation and translation studies at his home university and the wider community with the aim of creating an Australian Center for Literary Translation similar to those existing in various European countries. Dr. Nelson holds an M.A. from Cambridge University and a D.Phil. from Oxford University.
