Birgit Teichmann is a landscape architecht and engineer who grew up in the historically diverse city of Berlin. She has been creating, planning and directing successfull projects for ecological play areas for children for over 25 years. Since the 90s Birgit has set the bar with her work and design that combines climate effectivity (sponge school grounds) with education, child development, health and wellbeing and a participatory approach that implements a participatory planning and building process. She works together with experts from noumerous disciplines and communities to build a broader understanding of design with the focus on biodiversity and storm water management in an urban context and the goal to encourage others to design climate resilient green spaces. Birgit is currently leading the design on the pilote project 'Climate Ready School Ground' of Evergreen in Toronto, Canada.
