Auguste Tautscher-Basnett

Clinical Linguist and Quality Manager, Neurorehabilitation, Gailtal-Klinik Hermagor, Austria
Tautscher-Basnett ´s interest in what happens to language and communication after acquired brain injury brought her to Gailtal-Klinik, a neurorehabilitation clinic in Southern Austria, where she has been working since 2001, and currently acts as head of quality and risk management. There, she developed a group therapy approach for people with severe aphasia, introduced constraint induced aphasia therapy and changed the language therapy focus from impaired language function to enhanced communication skills in everyday life. Offering evidence-based therapies such as the concepts of neurologic music therapy (NMT) for improving non-musical functions in patients with different neurologic diseases is central to her clinical work, with a special interest in advancing interdisciplinary treatment options for patients with Parkinson’s Disease. Auguste Tautscher-Basnett did her master’s degree in Human Communication Science at University College London.
