Aranzazu Alonso

Executive Director, Pacto por la Primera Infancia, México City, México

Aranzazu Alonso is executive director of Pacto por la Primera Infancia, Mexico’s largest collective impact and advocacy coalition for early childhood, bringing together more than 500 institutions nationwide. Under her leadership, the coalition has helped make early childhood a national priority, securing commitments from 16 sitting governors and, in 2024, from Mexico’s current president to advance 12 concrete goals for young children’s development. Through sustained advocacy, Pacto por la Primera Infancia helped achieve Mexico’s first national early childhood policy, the constitutional recognition of early education as both a right of children and an obligation of the Mexican State, and a sustained increase in public investment for early childhood. Aranzazu has worked in public service, research, consulting, and policy evaluation, with a focus on transforming public systems so every child can thrive from the start. Above all, she considers her most important role to be the mother of Macarena, 6, and Santiago, 4.
