Anwar Koma is an assistant professor of Political Science, head of the Turkish Studies Center at Prince of Songkla University, and deputy director of Patani Forum in Thailand. His work focuses on Islamophobia, Buddhist-Muslim relations, online hate speech, and the conflict in Southern Thailand. Anwar teaches courses on ethnicity, citizenship, Islam and politics, identity politics, and the role of NGOs in Southern Thailand, with a special focus on Malay minority students. He holds a Ph.D. in International Relations from Dokuz Eylul University, Türkiye, an MA in Public Policy in Islam from Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Qatar, and a BA in Political Science from the International Islamic University Malaysia. His research delves into state-Muslim minority relations, peacebuilding, identity politics, and interfaith relations. Anwar has participated in prestigious global programs, including the ASEAN-Australia Muslim Exchange Program, a professional fellowship at the University of Montana, U.S., and the Advanced Training Program for Young Diplomatic Talents from BRI Countries at Fudan University, China. Through his academic and advocacy efforts, Anwar is dedicated to advancing dialogue and reconciliation in conflict-affected societies.
