Professor
Antonio Carlos Lessa has served as a faculty member at the University of Brasília, Brazil, since 1997, becoming Full Professor of International Relations in 2018. Since 2007, he has been a Research Fellow with the Brazilian Council for Scientific and Technological Development and serves as Deputy Director at the Center for Global Studies at the University of Brasília. He has authored, co-authored, and edited numerous books, book chapters, and articles, with publications both in Brazil and internationally. He held appointments as a visiting professor and as a research fellow at universities in Brazil, the United States, France, Portugal, Argentina, and Uruguay. Beyond academia, he has engaged in consultancy roles with various international institutions, governments, and diplomatic entities, briefing officials on topics related to Brazilian Foreign Policy and the Brazilian political system. His research and teaching interests include Brazilian Foreign Policy, Global Issues, and Contemporary International Politics and currently, his work is centered on contemporary global challenges such as global climate change, humanitarian crises, and the rivalry between the US and China. He critically examines these issues and their impacts on the foreign policies of middle powers, with a particular emphasis on Brazil's international strategies.
