Dr. Andrew CUNNINGHAM is the Global Lead for Education at the Aga Khan Foundation. Andy began his career in international education in 2006 as the co-founder of the Women's Institute for Secondary Education and Research (WISER) in rural Muhuru Bay, Kenya as the first girls' secondary boarding school for STEM in the region. Andy then worked for UNICEF, the World Bank, World Learning and the Education Above All Foundation before joining AKF in 2015. He graduated from Duke University with degrees in International Comparative Studies and Chinese, earned a Masters and Doctorate in Comparative International Education at Oxford University, and is the recipient of the Marshall, Truman and Robertson Scholarships. Most recently, Andy was elected by his peers to represent private foundations as a member of the Global Board of Directors for the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), one of the largest pooled funds for international education. He is originally from Vermont, USA and now resides in Lausanne, Switzerland.
