Amita Arudpragasam is an independent researcher, writer, and public policy analyst based in Colombo. Her interests lie at the intersections of economics, politics, gender and ethnic conflict. She is currently producing a documentary on Climate Emergency in Sri Lanka?s North and writing a series of articles on economic development on the war-impacted regions of Sri Lanka. In 2021, she founded an online language school that teaches Tamil to English speakers. She was a senior assistant editor at Himal Southasian magazine in 2020. Previously, she was a media and politics researcher at a Colombo-based think tank in 2013, the Private Secretary to Sri Lanka?s Foreign Minister from 2014-2015, and the Head of Research and Policy at Sri Lanka?s Secretariat for Coordinating Reconciliation Mechanisms from 2016-2017. She has written policy-informed articles for numerous magazines and has provided political-economy analysis for international media. She completed her AB in English Literature at Princeton University and her MPP at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
