Amina Ali

Strategic advisor, Municipality of Amsterdam, Netherlands
Amina Ali is a strategic advisor working on Health in All Policies (HiAP) at the Public Health Service of Amsterdam, part of the municipality of Amsterdam. In this role, she focuses on integrating health considerations across municipal policy domains, such as housing, education, work and income, and urban development, to reduce health inequalities. Her work is guided by the understanding that health issues do not exist in isolation but are deeply connected to social, economic, and environmental conditions. Addressing these interrelated challenges requires an upstream, cross-sector approach that embeds health into all relevant policies and practices. By doing so, the city of Amsterdam aims to create environments where every citizen has an equal opportunity to live a healthy life. Amina brings experience at the intersection of public health, governance, and social justice, translating complex systems thinking into practical policy solutions. Before joining the City of Amsterdam, she advised public institutions on organisational change. She has a background in microbiology, public health, and political science, and is committed to advancing health equity through collaborative, integrated approaches that recognise health as a shared responsibility across all domains.
