Amiera Sawas is a researcher and advocate working at the intersections of climate change, gender justice, public participation, and the social contract. With nearly 20 years of experience, she has contributed to these fields across academia, the private sector, think tanks, and NGOs. In her recent roles at Climate Outreach, ActionAid, and the Grantham Institute for Climate Change at Imperial College, she has led efforts to advance climate action through inclusive and participatory approaches. Amiera holds a PhD focused on water, climate, and human rights in Pakistan and is a contributing author to the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report on gender and climate security. Of both Syrian and Irish heritage, with close ties to Pakistan, she brings a deep awareness of the impacts of colonial histories and is a passionate advocate for the decolonization of knowledge and practice in her field.
