Amelia Shindelar is Coordinator for the Human Rights Initiative at the University of Minnesota. Amelia has over 15 years of experience working in community organizing, public health and human rights. Her interest include; the development and sustaining of social movements, voting rights and human rights education. Prior to joining the Initiative in 2016 Amelia worked in public health outreach and grant management. Amelia is a returned Peace Corps volunteer; she served in rural Madagascar from 2007-2009, where she worked with villagers on a variety of projects including; sustainable farming techniques, nutrition education and HIV/AIDS prevention education. Amelia has a BA from the University of Minnesota in Anthropology and Global Studies, and a Master of Public Policy from Humphrey School of Public Affairs, with minors in Human Rights and Population Studies.
