Alia Yofira Karunian is a researcher at PurpleCode Collective, Jakarta, an Indonesia-based feminist collective, where she leads the organization’s work on emerging technology issues and their human rights impacts. A gender and technology policy researcher, Alia is also an associate researcher at the Safer Internet Lab (SAIL) at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), contributing to research and multistakeholder efforts to address information disorder across the Asia-Pacific. Alia’s work combines research, policy advocacy, and public engagement on AI governance, platform accountability, content moderation, data protection, information integrity, and technology-facilitated gender-based violence. She holds an LL.M. in innovation, technology, and law from the University of Edinburgh, UK.
