Alexandria Williams is a journalist and researcher at Deutsche Welle, examining how technology policy, AI systems, and global tech competition shape economies and societies across Europe, Africa, and Asia. Her work is driven by a commitment to designing technology governance frameworks that balance innovation, digital sovereignty, and human rights. Alexandra’s reporting combines on the ground investigation with policy analysis, tracing how regulations travel across borders and affect communities worldwide. She has reported on global technology issues with Deutsche Well and also on semiconductor manufacturing in Kenya, biometric data governance, online fraud networks, and the geopolitics of technology transfer. She previously worked on the legal team of a Chinese technology company during the early stages of the US—China tech conflict, gaining firsthand insight into how policy decisions reshape innovation ecosystems. Alexandria studied economics and East Asian studies at Wesleyan University, CT, US, and law at Peking University, China, as a Yenching Scholar.
