Alex is a Principal Scientist at the International Centre for Research in Agroforestry (ICRAF). He is a trans-disciplinary scholar with over 25 years of research and professional experience in agriculture and higher education. Prior to joining ICRAF he served in various executive and senior leadership roles, including Vice Provost, Dean, and Director at the Aga Khan University. He sits on the Board of the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), a Crown Corporation of Canada. Alex holds a PhD in Ecosystem Ecology, specializing in soil ecology, agroecology and food systems.
