Alaa is a seasoned expert in public policy, strategic communications, and entrepreneurship, currently serving as the Regional Advisor for the Middle East and North Africa at the International Development Research Center (IDRC). With over 12 years of experience, she leads efforts to shape regional strategies, foster high-impact partnerships, and drive sustainable development initiatives across the MENA region. Previously, as Lead Advisor on Emerging Voices and Countering Violent Extremism (P/CVE) at the U.S. Embassy in Amman, Alaa spearheaded groundbreaking initiatives aimed at empowering marginalized youth and communities through entrepreneurship, the arts, and innovative approaches to peacebuilding. Her work focused on amplifying youth voices, fostering social cohesion, and building resilience, contributing to long-term peace and security efforts in Jordan and the broader region. Alaa holds a master's degree in Arab studies from Georgetown University and an Honors Graduate Certificate in International Business Diplomacy. She is deeply committed to leveraging her expertise in youth engagement, innovation, and human security to drive transformative changes across the MENA region.
