Akshita Gupta is currently serving as commissioner at Municipal Corporation Phagwara, in Punjab. Her work prioritizes digital governance, accountability, and service efficiency while advancing equity, inclusion, and sustainability. She actively collaborates with academic institutions, civil society organizations, and citizens to strengthen trust in public institutions and build inclusive, resilient, and future-ready public systems. An Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer and an awarded scholar, Akshita is nationally recognized for her dynamic leadership and innovative approaches to participatory governance, with a strong focus on engaging youth, women, and marginalized communities as active stakeholders in public decision-making. She has a system-oriented and outcome-driven approach to administration and public service delivery. Drawing on her medical training, Akshita brings scientific rigor, data-driven decision-making, and a human-centric perspective to public policy and institutional reform. Akshita is a medical graduate with bachelor’s degree in medicine and bachelor’s degree in surgery and holds a master’s degree in public management.
