Akiko Imai is a professor at the Business Design Department, Faculty of Global Business, Showa Women's University. Her research area includes women's policies in Japan, women's leadership, sustainability and global business. She has been the executive director of the Tokyo Foundation, a not-for-profit policy think tank, a board member and managing editor of Japan Echo magazine. Ms. Imai earned her master's degree in public administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University as a Fulbright scholar. Her recent writings and translated publications include "Development Assistance for Inclusive Growth: A Field for Japan-U.S. Cooperation?" (CSIS Strategic Japan Working Papers), Saigo no Shihon shugi (Saving Capitalism; Robert Reich) and Bososuru Shihon Shugi (Supercapitalism; Robert B. Reich), and many others. She is a board member of Group of Kilimanjaro, a Japanese not-for-profit organization supporting the Sakura Girls Secondary School, a newly founded boarding school focusing on STEM and leadership education, located in Arusha, Tanzania.
