Dr. Abiba Zakariah is the Commissioner of Insurance, Ghana. The Founder and Managing Director of "The Strategist Consortium," a management consultancy company, and an executive of Alternative Risk Advisors, a risk consultancy firm. She holds a Doctorate in Management from Swiss Management Centre, Switzerland, and a Master’s Degree in Marketing from the University of Ghana. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute, the Institute of Risk Management Professionals Ghana, a Chartered Marketer, and holds an LLB. Dr. Abiba Zakariah has over thirty years of working experience. She served as the Chief Operating Officer of WAICA Reinsurance Corporation PLC, and prior to that a former Managing Director of Ghana Re. She is a visiting lecturer at the West African Insurance Institute, as well as a resource person at several institutions and organizations in the industry. She has served and still serves on a number of Boards. She was the first president of the Chartered Insurance Ladies Association of Ghana (CILAG), an awardee of the Young Insurance Professionals (YIP) in Africa 2024, Professional Insurance Ladies Association’s (PILA) Top 50 Women in Insurance in Africa 2022, the Business Insurance Women to Watch in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) in 2019, and the Northern Youth for Peace and Development in Ghana in 2017. In her private life, she is a Pastor of Assemblies of God Church, a motivational speaker, posts motivational quotes, and the funder of ‘Silent Scream’ an NGO for Mental Health.
